To ensure that we can process your mail smoothly and correctly, it is important (and necessary) that your relations state the Postbox number and the addressee when they send mail to you. You can imagine that it will be difficult for us to sort and process mail without a Postbox number and the risk of errors is greater.
To ensure that, in the absence of a Postbox number, the mail nevertheless reaches the correct person, we sort these mail items by name (addressee). However, this entails considerably more work, which means that we are forced to charge extra costs per item of mail where this is the case.
However, if a Postbox number entry is not possible due to automated systems, we do not charge extra costs for this. This is the case, for example, with PostNL’s relocation service. This only works with entering a zip code and house number and does not allow an extra field.
